Inspiration and the purpose of life-part one

Have you ever asked yourself what is inspiration and where can we find it? Or maybe inspiration is just everything that excites us, makes us feel alive?

Many people have asked me and Alex from where do we draw our inspiration, how do we keep on developing new products and our inspiration never ends?

It was hard to ignore your desire to understand more, so I`ve decided to think along with you, as I have several goals:

– Help you raise your awareness to inspiration and teach you to train yourself in maintaining it.

–  Refute the idea that it belongs only to artists.

–  Share my methods for finding and preserving it.

Inspiration is a very abstract concept, it is present in our lives on a daily basis. Think about it for a moment, what are the things that excite you most? What gives your life meaning? Where does your brilliant ideas come from, Is it tangible or just a passing feeling?

As we all know, all terms must have a definition…

So I looked it up in our 2015 dictionary (Google, of course!) and found a number of interesting things. There are slight differences in words, but the main idea is the same, here are some examples:

– In English Inspiration refers to an unconscious burst of creativity in a literary, musical, or other artistic endeavor.

– First result in Hebrew is the word Muse, from the Greek mythology. Nine Muses, goddesses of creation, were led by Apollo. Together they entertained the Olympic gods. Their main role was to inspire artists, especially poets, musicians and philosophers.

Another definition that appears on Wikipedia in Hebrew is Electromagnetic induction- the production of an electromotive force across a conductor when it is exposed to a time varying magnetic field. Or in simpler words, a physical process that creates a changing magnetic flux, causing the appearance of a voltage in a conductor.

All those words in bold above, describe exactly the questions I asked in the beginning of this post. What is that feeling, this inspiration that ignites the power of invention, how is an idea born from the silence and brings us to a state of abundance?

In addition, one of the main things that caught my attention was the fact that inspiration, or the electrical power if you prefer, is present in all aspects of life: physics, mathematics, arts, and many more. Which leads me to think about the following…

Who uses inspiration and where can we find it?

The answer is – everyone and everywhere!

It is thought (not you, you’re cool) that it exists only among artists, but guess what? It`s not!

What were they thinking, that the inventor of the smartphone (just the most useful thing today…) didn`t need a touch of inspiration to create it, long before someone even thought of it`s design?

We all need inspiration, regardless of profession, religion, race or gender. It belongs to everyone. The trick is to pay attention to it and preserve it. (If you`ll be patient, you could read all about it in the next chapter of this post, which is waiting just around the corner) Inspiration comes to us from a variety of places, and I`m sure that every one of you draws it from different places.

Yep, inspiration is everywhere guys! The good thing about it, is that you don`t have to look hard to find it, it can be in any mundane thing in life- a walk on the beach, a photo on Instagram, a show, a smile, the look in someone’s eyes, peace, men, women, school, a sound, a smell, a taste, a color, a season, a laugh and lots of things that are right there, under our noses.

So before we talk about the how and why, take a few minutes to process what you’ve read here, think of the things we talked about. Where does it meet you daily? (And of course don`t forget to share it all with me) After you`ll come up with ideas and conclusions following this post, I`ll expand on how to implement and refine what we have defined today as inspiration.

Most of us are creatures of habits and routines, especially when it comes to the little day-to-day things. Driving from home to work or from work to your kid’s school to pick him up at the end of the day, those are the things we do almost subconsciously, the same way and every day. So what would happen if I asked you, just for one day, to do the exact same trip, same goal, just a different route? How`s the same action, with a slight difference, affects you?

Share your answers with me and the “Why” will be clarified in the sequel 🙂
